As things stand, the Government’s guidance during the national lockdown explicitly allows in-home childcare to continue.
The safety, health and wellbeing of all our customers, and the children in their care, is of the utmost importance to us at Bubble and whilst the Government’s guidance permits in-home childcare, it is crucial that all parties do what they can to minimise risk by taking all sensible steps before, during and after a sit.
Here are the measures that we ask all parents and sitters to adhere to when using Bubble during these times:
Communicate openly
Now more than ever, it’s vital that parents and sitters communicate proactively, openly and honestly with each other ahead of a sit. Make sure you discuss your own requirements before a sit takes place, and your expectations around how everyone can do their part to provide the safest and best environment possible. We know that sometimes, certain conversations can feel awkward, but we urge everyone to feel comfortable and confident laying out what they need from each other. We know that this only leads to good things and a better experience all round.
Here are the measures that we believe everyone should adopt before and during a sit:
For Sitters
- If you are going to offer to sit during this time, then please make sure that you are practising social distancing in-line with government guidelines.
- You must not go on a sit if you, or anyone in your household is quarantining or are experiencing any symptoms:
- high temperature (above 37.8) and/or
- a new, continuous cough and/or
- a loss or change in taste or smell.
- If you have a thermometer take your temperature before a sit and cancel the sit if it is high
- You must stay off work for 7 days if you experience any symptoms, or 14 days if anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms.
- Where possible sitters should avoid all public transport. Walking, cycling or driving is best.
- Upon arrival, you should remove your shoes and outdoor coat, and wash your hands for the recommended 20 seconds.
- Where reasonably possible, all adults should maintain the 2m distance during the sit.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze. Put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.
- When on a sit, please take extra precautions to ensure you and the children in your care are practising the highest levels of good hygiene.

For Parents
- If you are going to book a sitter, then please make sure that you are practising social distancing in-line with government guidelines.
- Please do not book a sit if you, or anyone in your household is quarantining or are experiencing any symptoms:
- high temperature (above 37.8) and/or
- a new, continuous cough and/or
- a loss or change in taste or smell.
- You should self-isolate for 7 days if you experience any symptoms, or 14 days if anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms.
- Try where possible to book a sitter who does not require public transport to get to your home. Walking, cycling or driving in their own car is much more preferable. Offering them a taxi where possible is advised.
- Please ask your sitter to wash their hands for 20-seconds upon arrival, and continuously during the sit.
- Please ask your sitter to remove their shoes and coat upon arrival.
- Please do what you can to ensure that your home is well ventilated during a sit, by opening windows and doors (where possible) to allow fresh air in.
We know these are uncertain times, with a situation that is fast-moving and changing regularly. At Bubble, we’re doing our best to stay on top of new guidelines as they emerge, and will ensure that our community is kept fully up to date as things develop.
