During the COVID19 pandemic, it is imperative that NHS staff can be available for their shifts.
With schools, nurseries and other regular childcare facilities closed indefinitely, parents in the NHS will struggle to arrange the alternative childcare they need – particularly ad hoc and at short notice – to carry out their work. Whether they can or cannot is a matter of life and death.
Across the country, medical students (led by the brilliant Sam & Jenny from Edinburgh Med), NHS staff groups, and other stakeholders in the medical community, have decided that they will offer childcare (and other) services to NHS workers voluntarily, free of charge. This group has now formed under The National Health Supporters. Hundreds of existing sitters on bubble have already expressed a willingness to help as well.
Inspired by their actions and now, working in partnership with them, we at bubble have committed to developing our existing booking platform to facilitate their phenomenal initiative. We are shortly launching a service that will enable NHS workers to get free childcare by connecting them with childcare volunteers in their local community.
Our small startup team is working around the clock to launch in the coming days. In the meantime, if you are an NHS Parent or Volunteer who is interested in taking part, you can register your interest below and we will email you as soon as the service is live. If you are a sitter who would like to volunteer, then we encourage you to register your profile now on the bubble for sitters app, so that you can be approved in time for the launch of this initiative.
