Bubble Updates And Support

Express Book is here

We’re really excited bout a new feature we’ve just released called Express Book.  Express Book, allows a parent in need of a babysitter at short notice (today or tomorrow) to post up their sit requirements, and for local babysitters to bid for the work in real time.  They then get a shortlist back of willing babysitters, and confirm the sit with the one that’s right for them. It’s early days, but so far, on average, Express Book has been providing potential babysitters to Parents in less than one minute – 43 seconds to be precise! You can watch a video of it

Trust on bubble

We’ve just released a new version of our app and amongst the many improvements, we’re really pleased to have our new Background Checks in place. Now, every babysitter on bubble is cleared through an online criminal background check before their profile goes live. This is in addition to the real-time identity checks we were already doing and is part of our mission to build a platform and community that offers parents and sitters the safest, most trusted way to arrange their babysitting. We’ve partnered with a cutting-edge technology platform that uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to screen individuals for

Babysitting rates: what should you pay a babysitter in the UK?

Since we all need a break from looking after the kids from time to time, you could argue that babysitters pretty much prop up our society. They’re lifesavers that keep us sane. But finding a good, reliable babysitter isn’t without its problems. In general, when it comes to sorting out babysitters, there are 2 problems: where do you find a good babysitter and how much should you pay your babysitter? This article is about the second issue: that of babysitting rates. In the UK, what should you expect to pay a babysitter? It’s actually a key issue, because the differences

Helping Parents & Sitters Just Say Yes!

We’ve just put out a new version of our app and it’s one we’re really excited about. This is mainly because amongst the many fixes and improvements is new functionality allowing our sitters to schedule their availability for the next fortnight. Now, sitters will only show up in a parent’s search if they’ve told the app they’re available on that day and in that time slot (“daytime” & “evening”.) We’re excited about this for two reasons: It’s something both parents and sitters have been asking us for since day one. Parents understandably only want to see the babysitters that can

Meet the Sitter – Episode #2

In the process of getting bubble off the ground, we’ve been fortunate enough to meet and talk to lots of fantastic babysitters, boasting all kind of talents, backgrounds and experience. It made us think that we’d like to showcase some of the hero sitters we’re lucky enough to have on the app, so we decided to start a regular feature on the blog – Meet the Sitter.  This time, we caught up with Mary Savvides; Events Manager, First Aider and Master Baker…   bubble: Hi Mary, to kick off why don’t you describe yourself in three words MS: I’m bubbly, positive

“Meet the Sitter”

In the process of getting bubble off the ground, we’ve been fortunate enough to meet and talk to lots of fantastic babysitters, boasting all kind of talents, backgrounds and experience. It made us think that we’d like to showcase some of the hero sitters we’re lucky enough to have on the app, so we decided to start a regular feature on the blog – Meet the Sitter – in which we ask one of the bubble babysitters nine questions about them (10 felt a bit clichéd….) and why they enjoy the work they do. First up, is Katie Maughan, a

A failed experiment

Here’s something you probably knew: us parent’s don’t really like sharing our babysitters. Even your most solid, selfless all round do-gooder friend that’ll drop everything for you 99% of the time can be found wanting when asked for the phone number of the amazing sitter that helped them out last week. The same one they instantly regretted ever mentioning to you as soon as they saw your step spring and eyes light up. What’s more, this behaviour is in no way frowned upon, even by the person on the receiving end of it. “Fair enough, I’d do the same” is

What’s in a name?

One of the hardest decision we’ve had to make so far has been what to call our app. I think decisions like these are tough for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s something that everyone will have an opinion on – irrespective of age, experience profession or perspective. We’re all qualified to say whether we like a name or not and opinions differ wildly. It’s a bit like a TV advert – any viewer naturally and instinctively forms an opinion on whether it’s “any good” or not, making everyone an expert in their own right. Another difficulty is that you’re having
