Who’s behind bubble?
bubble was founded by Ari & Adrian – two friends and dads who used to work together. The business is also advised by a great panel of parents and sitters, helping to make bubble as good as it can be. You can read a bit more about us here.

Does it cost me anything to sign up?
No, not a penny. Signing up to the app is completely free whether you are a babysitter or a parent.
Do you run any background checks on users?
Every sitter on the app goes through an automated, real-time identity check which is run in the background while they complete the registration process. This check is performed by a third party provider called GBG Plc. You can read more about them on their website . Sitters also have a background check run against criminal watchlists and undergo an adverse media check. Every Parent must register with verified payment card details before being able to send a booking request.
What happens if a user sitter fails this check?
Until a sitter has been verified/passed, their profile will not show up on a parent’s search. Bubble will contact those users who fail the checks to request additional information.
How are you connecting users of the app to one another?
We believe that both parents and sitters love to meet via a personal connection. All of us are closer to a larger network of parents and sitters than we perhaps realise. Our aim is to make these connections visible to users in our app, leading to a bigger pool of local babysitters for parents and likewise, a bigger pool of local families for sitters. We do this by integrating with a user’s wider social network e.g. Facebook and other community data points that they choose to share with us during sign-up. Our app then maps this data to show how and through whom people are connected.
If I integrate with Facebook what info about my profile will be shared and visible?
The Facebook integration does not give bubble or any user access or visibility to your wall or photos and neither us nor anyone else will ever post there. The app is using the integration to help verify a babysitter’s identity and to allow Parents and Babysitters on the app to see if they have any Facebook friends in common with each other.
I know people who’d love bubble – how do I refer them?
Every user has a unique referral code in the app that they can use to invite friends. Sharing the app with friends will do two things: One, it will build your network on the app and two; you’ll earn credit in your bubble account each time you refer a Parent who then makes a booking.
How is my data kept safe and private?
Will it cost me anything to sign up?
No. It is completely free to sign up, create a profile and make a booking request – we charge a small booking fee (£3.50) when you use a sitter through our app. We’re not like an agency or other childcare websites – you will not need to pay a subscription fee to get access to our service, you simply pay a booking fee when you use it.
Are all the sitters on the app DBS/CRB checked or registered childminders?
Every babysitter on bubble is ID & Background checked, but not all of them have DBS/CRB certificate. We have a range of great sitters from professional childcarers who are DBS/CRB checked, to bright and bubbly students looking to earn while they learn. The experience and qualifications of all sitters will be visible to you in their profiles.
We’re about giving parents choice – what you require from a sitter and how much you want to pay will depend on your own child and what you need the sitter to do. We will show you a range of potential sitters and you can decide what’s right for you.
Will I be able to filter my search to only include sitters with certain experience or qualifications?
Not yet, but we’ll be adding this functionality in the future for sure so please bear with us!
How do I make a booking?
We want to make booking a trusted babysitter as effortless as ordering your favourite takeaway.
Simply log in, tap in your sit requirements and hit the search button. At this point you’ll be shown available sitters in your area to review. You’ll also be able to see how you might be connected to them. Once you’ve found one or a few that you like, you can send them all the same booking request. As soon as a sitter comes back to you with a “yes” the booking is confirmed.
Can I send a booking request to multiple sitters at once?
Yes. You have the ability to add multiple sitters to a “sitlist” and then send out your request to all of them at once.
What if my plans change and I need to cancel?
No problem – you’re free to cancel without charge until the moment your sitter arrives.
We really encourage you though to be considerate when it comes to cancelling on a sitter who has made a commitment to you, especially at short notice. Of course, sometimes it’s just unavoidable but being as considerate as possible will make them more likely to sit for you again and will improve your chances of getting excellent reviews and ratings (which other sitters will see).
What if my sitter is late?
Firstly you only need to pay the sitter for the time they sit. So if they show up late, you’ll be able to use your discretion to edit the start time of the sit in the app when paying at the end of the night.
With regards to getting in touch with them to see where they are, once you’ve booked your sitter you’ll be able to message them in the app, so just get in touch with them if they’re late to see where they are.
Hopefully, they’ll beat you to it.
What if we’re having a great time and want to stay out later than planned?
No problem. The app allows you to end the sit when you get home, and will calculate the price accordingly.
So just make sure your sitter’s fine with you ordering dessert, or that one last drink before you leave.
What if we come home early?
Again, not a problem. You’ll end the sit when you get home and will pay the correct price.
We do encourage parents to be considerate when it comes to getting back much earlier than planned. Sitters will often cover their own travel costs, cancel other plans and even turn down other sits to come to you so if you do get home much earlier than planned, you might want to ensure that the sitter isn’t left worse off as a result.
What happens if I forget to end the sit when I get home?
Don’t worry – on the off-chance it does happen, you’ll be able to edit the end time so you’ll only be charged the right price.
How do I pay the sitter?
You pay them through your credit or debit card which you need to register in the app before sending out a booking request. No more late night dashes to that temporarily out-of-service cash machine.
How much does the service cost me?
The only fee you pay is a £3.50 booking fee when you use a sitter. This is single fixed price charge per booking.
How does the app ‘connect’ me to potential sitters?

What if I don’t know anyone in the area, how do I get connected?
Firstly, you’ll still be shown available babysitters when you need a sit, even if none of them are connected to you. Obviously though, you’re more likely to book a sitter if you’re more closely connected to them.
The good news is that growing your network on bubble is actually quite simple, even from a standing start. All you need to do is invite one or two parents or sitters to join the app and you’ll then be instantly connected to their entire network.
How’s that? Well it’s highly likely that your parent friends have one or two sitters they use, and that the sitters you use have other sitters that they know. So get a couple of them to sign up and you’ll be well networked in no time!
Can I rate and review the sitter afterwards?
Yes – and they can rate and review you too, so be nice!
Will it cost me anything to use bubble?
No, not a penny. It is completely free for you to sign up and you keep 100% of what you earn through the app.
Who sets my hourly rate – me or you?
You set your own hourly rate and have the ability to change this in your profile whenever you want. Currently, the average hourly rate on bubble is £9.
Why do I need to sign-up up with my Facebook Account?
Trust is absolutely paramount to us and everyone using bubble.
And the reason we require babysitters on the app to sign-up with Facebook is that it forms an important part of our identity and background checking process.
To be clear:
o Nobody has access to your Facebook account, wall or timeline
o Nobody can see your photos
As well as helping us ensure a babysitter’s identity, it also allows the app to show Parents looking at your bubble profile, when you and they have a Facebook friend in common
I don’t have Facebook? What now?
We know not everybody has a Facebook account, and we’re making improvements and updates to the app constantly, so would love to keep in touch with you and let you know if signing up via another route becomes available. So do drop an email to email@example.com and we’ll know to keep you up to date.
What background checks do I need to go through?

Again, this is an online check which happens at sign-up.
Do I need to be a registered childminder or have an active DBS/CRB check to be listed on bubble?
No, you do not. However, if you are a registered childminder or you do have a DBS certificate then you will be able to display this on your profile.
What information about me will parents be able to see?
When your profile shows up in a parent’s search they’ll be able to view your name, age and photo as well as the other credentials and experience you’ve listed in your profile. They’ll also be able to see how they might be connected to you and the ratings and reviews left by parents who’ve used you before. They will not see your phone number or address.
What information will I be able to see about a parent?
We think bubble offers sitters unparalleled trust and transparency – no more turning up at the door barely knowing what to expect. When you get a booking request, you have the option to go into the parent’s profile to learn more about them and how you might be connected to them. You can also read reviews and ratings from other sitters who have babysat for them in the past. With bubble, you can then make an informed decision about whether or not to take on that job.
How does the app connect me to parents and families around me?
We believe that both parents and sitters love to meet via a personal connection. Our aim is to make these connections visible in the app and we do this by integrating with a user’s social network and mapping that with other data shared with us during registration. The more connections you share with us, such as integrating bubble with your Facebook account, the more powerful your personal network will be.
What if I don’t know any other parents or babysitters in my area – will I not show up in a parent’s search?
Your profile will still show up in a parent’s search even if you are not connected to them. However, in order to boost your chances of getting booked, you’ll want to grow your network as big as possible .
The good news is that it doesn’t take a lot of effort – or people – for you to do that. Just sign-up one or two families you’ve worked with before, or even friends of yours who are also sitters, and you’ll immediately be connected to their entire network. In no time at all, you can go from no network to one that is really large and winning you lots of jobs.
How do I receive job requests from parents?
With bubble, the jobs come to you. So when a parent wants you to sit for them, you’ll get a notification to your phone. At this point you can either accept or reject, or go into the parent’s profile to read more about them and see how you might be connected, before making your decision.
What if I get a request but can’t do the job – will I be committed in any way?
No – if you can’t do it you simply tap “no”. Being on bubble does not commit you in any way to take on a job that’s offered to you. You can use the app as much or as little as you like – it’s babysitting on your terms.
How do I set my availability on the app?
The app has a 2-week availability calendar so that you can set your Morning (untill Noon), Daytime (before 6pm) and Evening (after 6pm) availability every day on a rolling 2-week basis. It means you will only appear in a parent’s search results for a day and time you can do.
You also have the option of turning yourself off with the ‘Do Not Disturb’ button (if you are on holiday, for example).
If you’re set as ‘available’ for a particular day/time you may receive job requests, but even then you can still accept or reject a sit request.
Can I message parents to ask for jobs?
No. To start with it is only possible for parents to instigate a booking request. However, if there’s clear demand for it, we’ll certainly look into adding this functionality in the future.
How does the app calculate the length of the sit?
The app will start the clock at the pre-agreed start time, as agreed between you and the parent at the point of booking. The sit will end when the parent gets home and presses the ‘End Sit’ button in the app. At that point, the price is calculated to the minute and the parent makes payment through the app.
What if the parent cancels on me, or I need to cancel on them?
There are no cancellation fees on bubble, for either side.
However, we strongly encourage users to be courteous and considerate when it comes to cancellations – especially if it’s at short notice.
How do I get paid?
Forget about the uncertainty and awkwardness that those ‘cash’ conversations can bring. With bubble, you will get paid directly into your bank account within 72 hours of the sit ending (often it will be much sooner). We take payment instantly from the parent’s registered card and transfer that money to you – 100% of it. You provide us with your bank account details upon signing up. Right now, the app does not cater for cash payment.
What if there’s a disagreement with the parent about payment?
We think this will be a rarity (after all, parents constantly need great sitters and a bad reputation gets around!) but in the event of a dispute it’s up to you and the parent to work it out. Having said that, we will always want to know of any experience that has been less than great and will try to help where we can, so please get in touch with us.
Will the parent be rating and reviewing me after the sit?
Yep – ratings and reviews are a great way to keep everyone on their toes and behaving properly. But this isn’t a one-way street. Sitters on bubble will also get the chance to rate and review parents. It’s a system that encourages the best behaviour on both sides and will ensure that the best sitters and parents get the best experience possible.
